‘Lunar Residents’ are larger than any humans that ever existed. We must contend with that. They are based on a naturally made configurations of geometry, like crystals or volcanic basalt rock formations. These complex patterns we are not able to yet decipher. Looking back at our earthly history may offer some clues, however, how do we know what rules apply with less gravity and constantly changing temperatures between 100 plus and 100 minus degrees at night. Even in Vermont, it doesn’t get that cold. Although on Mount Washington it does. From Mount Washington we study the moon, from the moon, we study how early life started on earth and from our desert regions we study Mars. In Oceans we study weightlessness in space and in space we study how to better grow plants on earth. See, science really is fun.

Now ‘Lunar Residents’ are technically alien scientists, if we consider that the moon is a laboratory. Back on earth in the laboratory of the foundry where temperatures reach 1000 degrees, inspiration for ‘Lunar Residents’ came about after building ‘Rodin’ a commission that integrated natural forms with man-made. The forms were hammered out and welded together., slightly biological, slightly mechanical. This might be easier on the moon, less friction. I am excited building ‘Lunar Residents’ here on earth and thankful Elon Musk is concentrating on Mars. Gives me time to further study crystalline growth, gravity and the Fibonacci sequence, all important. I want to get it just right. Elon feels the answers to our existence are found further out in space. I believe we are standing right on top of that answer. Einstein would have agreed. But let’s party, engage and welcome ‘Lunar Residents’, as we hope Martians will invite Elon to the table someday.
